So, you've seen straight edge and sXe all over my site. Yeah, I'mma sXe loser.
Straight Edge isn't just a teen thing. sXe is supposedly coined by Ian Mackaye from Minor Threat or from the band The Teen Idles. Pretty much, the basis of tradtional sXe is
"Don't drink, Don't smoke, Don't fuck."
Lemme elaborate.. it's rather vague, no?
Straight edge now though, 12 years after Minor Threat exploded into a bazillion pieces, sXe-ers tend to migrate towards veganism and certain political beliefs.
Yes, sXe is frowned upon by many, and is often thought to be a waste of a life. And yes, it can be perceived that way... but still... I think a waste of life is a life in rehab, detoxing after years of being a heroin addict.
Some straight edgers tend to like to push their beliefs on other people. That in itself is riciculous. I, for one, am not going to judge people on what they do. Just don't bug me about leaving the room when you light up a cigarette... teh =P!
Basically, don't do mind-altering drugs, alcohol included. I hafta say, I'm guilty of drinking alcohol, but I've barely had a buzz ever, so it's not that bad. I'd never get piss drunk. Don't smoke, be in cigarettes or weed.. whatever. And no, you dun hafta die a virgin. Pre-marital sex is what it's referring to.
